Inspired by Lang Shining’s “Herd of Deer in an Autumnal Grove”in the Palace Museum collection, this piece reinterprets traditional Chinese auspicious motifs through the lens of Eastern aesthetics. A leaping deer, crowned with gilded antlers, radiates elegance and prosperity—symbolizing both fortune and advancement. A magpie perches atop the antlers, merging “deer” (lu, 禄 – meaning prosperity) and “magpie” (xi, 喜 – joy) into a visual blessing of harmony and happiness.
